Shephard Smith was anchoring while Matt Finn was actually REPORTING on the incident.
When he mentioned hate crime and people linking this to Black Lives Matter (which, considering #blmKidnapping was the actual hastag is objectively true) … Smith cut him off:
“wait wait wait wait wait…”
“The police chief made clear what this was. He said it was the taunting and the racial slurs. Let’s leave the politics of this alone.”
No surprise here, considering he once scolded Bobby Jindal. It was not ‘appropriate for Bobby Jindal — apparently — to say ‘All Lives Matter’.
“It is time for folks across party lines,” Jindal told Smith, “across ideological lines, to condemn this violence, to condemn this insanity, we’ve got to come together, we’ve got to say that all lives matter. It doesn’t matter what color you are, black, white, brown red, it doesn’t matter, all lives matter. We’ve got to protect and value our police.”
But Smith immediately jumped on Jindal for saying “all lives matter” and hinted that he thinks the phrase is a racist term that shouldn’t be used.
“Governor,” Smith said quickly, “you know that that phrase you just used is one that’s seen by many as derogatory, right? And I just wonder why you used that phrase when there’s a certain segment of the population that believes it’s a real dig on ’em?”
Nice touch there, of a white newscaster to help a Governor who’s the son of an Indian immigrant to not make a racist faux pas?
So now that we KNOW how ‘objective’ Smith is on this issue. Let’s roll Dice:
